Overview
LuxSmart is a premium smart home control app designed to make connected living feel effortless, elegant, and emotionally engaging. Unlike typical IoT dashboards that prioritize function over feeling, LuxSmart focuses on creating a living experience, one that blends intelligence with intimacy. The challenge was to design an interface that feels luxurious yet human, where every interaction conveys calm, control, and clarity. Through a carefully built design system, layered motion, and subtle gradients, I set out to create a product that transforms technology into something felt, not just used.
Crafting the Design System
Building Warmth Through Structure
Creating LuxSmart’s design system felt like designing the architecture of the home itself — every decision had to feel intentional, balanced, and quietly confident. I began with color primitives: a radiant orange gradient to symbolize warmth and energy, softened by cool neutrals and gentle shadows for depth. From there, I defined variables and components that ensured consistency and fluidity across screens, rounded cards, floating controls, responsive spacing, and micro-interactions that suggest motion and airiness. Typography and iconography were designed to communicate calm precision - modern yet friendly, guiding the user’s eye with subtle rhythm. Together, these elements formed a cohesive design language that carried through every layer of the experience.
Home Control & Security
All Your Devices, Live and Connected
The home control interface is the central hub for managing the LuxSmart ecosystem, giving users immediate oversight and control of lighting, temperature, energy, security, and live camera feeds. Users can monitor live security cameras, check lock status, and view environmental sensors in one unified view. A guest mode allows temporary access, and adding guests is seamless, family or visitors can be granted permissions without compromising safety. By emphasizing clarity, balance, and immediate feedback, the system turns complex smart home functions into a single, elegant overview, letting users manage their home confidently and effortlessly.
Scene Creator
Design Your Mood, Not Just Your Lighting
The Scene Creator empowers users to craft personalized moods by combining lighting, temperature, sound, and connected devices. Users can choose their own styles, icons, colors, and select which devices are part of each scene, giving them full creative control over how their home behaves. To make the experience smarter, the AI assistant offers contextual scene suggestions based on time of day, usage patterns, and user preferences, helping users discover new routines or optimize their home environment effortlessly. This approach transforms home automation from a functional task into a dynamic, personalized experience, where technology anticipates needs while giving users the freedom to express their own style and preferences.

Working on LuxSmart reinforced how human-centered design can make complex smart home systems feel intuitive, personal, and emotionally engaging. I learned the importance of balancing flexibility with simplicity, giving users control over devices, scenes, and guest access without overwhelming them. Integrating AI suggestions highlighted how proactive intelligence can guide and delight users, while careful attention to visual hierarchy, motion, and feedback builds trust across the ecosystem. If I were to revisit the project, I would expand AI-driven personalization, add energy optimization dashboards, and further refine voice interactions to create an even more adaptive, seamless experience.
